āFor everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heavenā
Ecclesiastes 3:1 ESV
(For L & T…..may this new season be a healing oasis of His love for you)
The light is starting to fade a little sooner everyday, and Iām watching time slip helplessly through my fingers. The ages of people I love tick up, as do the school years and what felt like eons when my kids were small, feels like constant forward motion as they grow now. Soon the air will start cooling (thank you Jesus!) Leaves will crumble to crackle-dry and then dust, and without my permission or consent, change and the shifting of seasons is upon us.
We often ask the question where did the time go? Only to find that time passes too fast or too slow often depending on how busy we are and how quickly our patience wanes.
Iāve never been good with change, it often makes me feel unsettled. But Iām also aware things canāt simply stay the same. Being stagnant is not an earmark of anything good in God’s Kingdom. Thereās a shift happening as one season yields to another that reminds us āfor everything there is a seasonā even if we arenāt ready for it.Ā
As much as itās hard to admit we are not capable of turning the tide, or holding back the hands of time – there is a time and place for everything under Heaven. If the seasons are shifting and we donāt want them to (and even if we do) we still ask the question āwhat do we do with change?ā
I think thereās an invitation waiting for us. Whether we welcome it or not, when things change thereās an opportunity for us to press in to Jesus. We may not like what weāve gone through (maybe we have), we may be excited for what lays ahead (and maybe we arenāt) but whether the seasons that we enter are physical, spiritual, or in lifeā¦.each shift gifts us the reminder we all need: āJesus, I donāt know how to stand, unless I find my place in you.ā
Whatever lays behind us or in front of us, when we view it through the eyes of redemption, circumstances loose their power over us. He can, and will, use anything and everything as a testament to his faithfulness. And, as a friendly reminder, He doesnāt want us to be so caught up in what we are going through that we lose sight of what is most important: HIM.Ā If anything shifts, let it be that the old falls away and all things be made new.
So whether you feel the change coming, or fear the challenges that lay ahead. If you’re delighted about what tomorrow holds or exhausted to think about another day- there is a season and a purpose for it, and you can assuredly find comfort, strength and peace knowing He holds the future, the seasons, and also you.
May every season allow us to be found in Him, and in Him alone. Jesus, you are enough to hold us all in your eternal and loving hands.
So much love,
Joy
